Being residents of Ames, it becomes our second “hometown”. We hope that our living place could provide us with the better services. The 2010 US Census is coming soon in March. It is important to Ames because it directly affects the amount of federal funding Ames receives for schools, highways, health care, economic development, and many other important public needs.

Everyone living in Ames must be counted in March for the 2010 Census because these numbers determine how much money Ames will receive from Washington, D.C., and how many votes Iowa will have in the U.S. House of Representatives. The funding depends on the number of people who live in Ames and on the races and cultures living in Ames at the time the census is counted.

However, a lot of international students are not aware of this. As a VALUED member of the Ames community, international students, scholars and families are counted too. The census count helps Ames continue to provide resources important to the community - such as CyRide.

We feel honored to collaborate with your community! And please let me know if you have questions or concerns. Thanks!
